Smoke Screen(Side 1) 2019, 200 x 100 cm

Dur­ing my dai­ly walks, I pho­tographed 100 dis­card­ed packs of cig­a­rettes. I had no­ticed that most of the time they had been crum­pled be­fore be­ing thrown away and were there­fore show­ing fas­ci­nat­ing shapes. I print­ed an ex­cerpt from each pho­to's back­ground on­to fab­ric, out of which I then cut the blown-up shape of the pack of cig­a­rette and sewed it on­to black felt. The re­sult is a dou­ble-sided piece: re­gard­less what one is try­ing to hide, in the end, it will al­ways be pos­si­ble to see be­hind the smoke screen and dis­cov­er the truth...
