Agnes II or Carpe Diem2005, 130 x 130
The second piece in a series of works inspired by the American painter Agnes Martin. The piece is ment to emanate calm and regularity. The papier maché elements look like the strokes made to count passing days. Every day is similar and yet none is exactly the same, just as the papier maché elements: each is similar and yet each one is unique. As time goes by and with exposure to light they will fade; the same way memories of days gone by will fade. A sign of transience.
